Transformers movie social - July 5th

Hi everyone,

Since Monday doesn't work for everyone, I have rescheduled the movie social to be on Tuesday instead of Monday!

We'll be watching Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

Date: Tuesday, July 5th

Location: Scotiabank Theatre (900 Burrard Street, Vancouver)
Time: 7:00 pm (we're going to watch the movie in 3D, since I've heard good reviews on the 3D special effects)

We'll be grabbing dinner afterwards! Location to be decided after we watch the movie. :)

If you would like to join us, please RSVP by Monday, July 4th so we know how many will be coming and we'll wait for you. We'll meet at the entrance of the theatre at 6:00 pm and then buy tickets together (or if we know you'll be coming 100%, we can buy the ticket for you in advance just in case it's sold out, then you can pay us back later).

We ran out of those $9 movie coupons but I'll see if I can get a few to sell to those who show up for the movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean movie social

The Canucks playoff schedule for the finals were released recently so...we will reschedule our movie social to Tuesday, June 7!!

We will be watching Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which just came out!!!

Location: Scotiabank Theatre in downtown Vancouver (900 Burrard Street, Vancouver)

We will meet at the entrance of the movie theatre at 6:00 pm to buy tickets.

We also have movie ticket coupons available for sale - $9 each. Movies nowadays cost around $13 so you do save quite a bit of money!

BC Provincial Championships - June 11-12, 2011

The BC Provincial Championships is happening from June 11-12, 2011.

Location: BC Institute of Technology (BCIT) (3700 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby, BC) -- located in Student Recreation Centre Gymnasium, building SE16

Requirements: You must have a current, validated CFF licence (or equivalent, e.g. USFA, FIE) in order to compete any events. Full fencing uniforms, including plastrons, are required in all events. Electric foil bibs are required in sanctioned foil events only (senior, junior, cadet). Non-sanctioned events (Y-12, Y-14, novice, veteran) will not be fenced with electric foil bibs.

Entry fees:
Administration fee: $25 (separate from event fee)

Event fee:
$25 per sanctioned event (senior, junior, cadet)
$15 per unsanctioned event (Y-12, Y-14, novice, veteran)
$30 per team (whole team)

Pre-registration ends June 8, 2011. Please register early to avoid late fees.

For beginners with a CFF licence - there is a Novice Men's & Women's Foil event! If you would like to compete, you will need a CFF licence to enter!

Note that there are TEAM EVENTS!!! We are looking for fencers to be a part of the UBC Team! If you are interested, please contact us on which weapon(s) you will be fencing in.
